Error Propagation of Parameters Obtained by Curve Fitting: Y = A X + B (A and B, identified as X1 and X2: Xabs zero = -X2 / X1)
Initially, the user defines the function and copies the values related to the parameters called X1 and X2, obtained by curve fitting, and pastes these values into the data acquisition boxes of the error propagation program. Then, the calculation -X2/X1 (-B/A) is performed and the result is displayed. If desired, the user can employ the "multiplicative factor" - specifically, the "critical factor f" - provided in the curve-fitting report to express the uncertainty at a 95.4% confidence level.
